Call for Computer Scientist in Computational Life Science

The Institutes of Pathology Bern and Lausanne are leading institutes in the field of clinical pathology and research in Switzerland. The close collaboration of clinical pathologists in the research projects offers not only the realization of basic research but promotes applied projects in the field of pathology paving the way towards more patient oriented diagnostics and therapy.

funded by a Swiss Cancer Research (KFS-4694-02-2019) on molecular epidemiology of lung cancer brain metastasis. This translational research project aims to broaden our knowledge on brain metastasis in lung cancer patients integrating epidemiological, pathological and molecular approaches.

Tasks

• Multiomics approach for cell deconvolution; linking mutation, methylation and tanscriptomics data
• Usage of machine learning applications for linking molecular and morphological markers
• Comparison of generated results with public databases (e.g. TCGA)
• Statistical analysis and interpretation of results; writing of research reports and manuscripts

Requirements

PhD degree in informatics, biomedical sciences or life sciences or equivalent work experience
Profound knowledge in R
Knowledge in Python is an advantage
Self-motivated and independent personality
Good knowledge of the English language

• Opportunity to work in an translational research team with pathologists, molecular pathologists and epidemiologists on a hot topic in cancer research
• Work in association with large bioinformatical working groups in Bern or Lausanne; individual working modalities possible
