Call for Entries: Share Your Experience of Kanwar Yatra 2025 Through Your Lens [Open for All, Hindi/English]: Participate by July 23

Submissions are invited for the ‘Kanwar Yatra 2025: Through Your Lens’ campaign by the Information & Public Relations Department of Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh. This initiative encourages citizens, pilgrims, and cultural observers to share their personal experiences and reflections related to the annual Kanwar Yatra and the historically significant Pura Mahadev Mela. Last date to participate: July 23, 2025.

About the Organizer

The Information & Public Relations Department, Baghpat serves as a communication bridge between the local government and citizens. Led by District Information Officer Rahul Bhati, the department implements multi-platform outreach strategies to inform the public about government schemes, policies, and community initiatives, while also promoting the district’s cultural heritage.

About the Program

The Kanwar Yatra is one of India’s largest annual religious pilgrimages, attracting millions of devotees during the sacred month of Shravan (July–August). Pilgrims undertake this journey by carrying holy water from the Ganga River to offer it at Lord Shiva temples. Situated along a key route, Baghpat transforms into a vibrant hub of devotion, community service, and cultural confluence during this period.

At its core, the ‘Kanwar Yatra 2025 – Through Your Lens’ campaign is a call to action—a collective invitation to document, reflect on, and preserve the dynamic cultural fabric of Baghpat district through the eyes of its people. This initiative seeks to capture the lived experiences of local citizens, visitors to the revered Parshurameshwar Temple at Pura Mahadev, attendees of the historic Kanwar Mela, and the volunteers, officials, and community members who contribute selflessly to the service of countless pilgrims.

By inviting participants to share their personal stories, photographs, or short videos, the campaign aims to build a rich digital archive that not only honors individual perspectives but also highlights the broader spiritual and cultural significance of Baghpat—its sacred spaces, living traditions, and the collective memories that shape its identity year after year.

Submissions may be made in Hindi or English, accompanied by a relevant image or video, offering a creative and personal lens into the unique spirit of the Kanwar Yatra. In doing so, the campaign aspires to foster deeper public engagement, transform lived experience into cultural record, and champion the inclusive preservation of intangible cultural heritage through citizen participation.
