About SheLeads Uttar Pradesh
SheLeads is a leadership-development programme for women working in public life. Previous editions have included sessions with Members of Parliament and experts on subjects such as leadership, communication and strategic planning.
UN Women has previously conducted three national editions in New Delhi and state workshops in Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand.
The programme is nonpartisan. Applicants are not required to belong to any particular political party or ideology.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all the following conditions:
- Be a citizen of India.
- Identify as a woman.
- Be between 25 and 55 years old.
- Have completed at least Class 12.
- Be proficient in Hindi and English.
- Be a woman leader associated with Uttar Pradesh.
- Be available to attend the residential workshop in Lucknow.
Applicants must also meet at least one of these three experience conditions:
- Have previously contested an election at the state, municipal corporation, municipality, town panchayat or panchayat level; or
- Have held a leadership position as an office-bearer or functionary in a political party; or
- Have at least five years of active engagement in public life through governance, policy advocacy or community development.
Applicants do not need to satisfy all three experience conditions. Meeting any one is sufficient, along with the general eligibility requirements.
Can I Apply?
You may apply if you are an Indian woman aged 25–55, have passed Class 12, can work in both Hindi and English, and meet at least one of the political or public-leadership experience conditions.
Women with community-development or policy-advocacy experience may apply even if they have never contested an election or held a political-party position, provided they have at least five years of relevant public engagement.
What Will Selected Participants Receive?
Selected participants will receive:
- Participation in a two-day leadership workshop
- Sessions connected with leadership and public life
- Opportunities to strengthen communication and strategic-planning skills
- Interaction with other women leaders
- Travel arrangements for the workshop
- Accommodation during the residential programme
