Applications are open for the MGG Academy 2026, a fully funded international leadership and sustainability program in Bonn, Germany. The program will run from 11 September to 29 November 2026 and is designed for early- to mid-career professionals working in global governance and sustainable development.
About the Organizer
The MGG Academy is hosted by German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) as part of the Managing Global Governance (MGG) Network.
The MGG Network connects institutions and professionals from Brazil, China, the European Union, India, Indonesia, Mexico, and South Africa to strengthen cooperation on global governance and sustainability issues.

What is the MGG Academy?
The MGG Academy is an intensive, full-time training program for professionals engaged in international cooperation, public policy, and sustainable development.
The academy combines academic learning, leadership training, and practical project work. Participants gain tools to address complex global challenges while collaborating across cultures and sectors.
Program Structure
The academy is structured around three core pillars:
Knowledge
Participants explore global challenges such as climate change, inequality, digitalisation, and global governance through academic modules, expert discussions, and study trips to Berlin and Brussels.
Leadership
The leadership component focuses on self-leadership, communication, teamwork in diverse international groups, and reflective learning. Individual coaching sessions are included.
Action
Participants work in international teams to design sustainability projects, strategies, or learning formats during the “Network in Action Week.”
Fully Funded Benefits
Selected participants will receive:
- Free participation in all program components
- Accommodation for the entire duration
- Monthly living allowance
- Total financial support of €2,200 (paid in three instalments)
- Health, accident, and liability insurance
- Monthly public transport ticket
- Program-related travel within Germany and Europe
Travel costs to Germany and family-related expenses are not covered.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a citizen or permanent resident of India, EU, Brazil, China, Indonesia, Mexico, or South Africa
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Have 3–15 years of professional experience
- Work in global governance or sustainable development
- Demonstrate strong English communication skills
- Receive written support from their employer
- Be available for full-time participation (40 hours per week)
Freelancers are also eligible to apply.
Employer Requirements
Employers must:
- Grant leave for the full program duration
- Cover round-trip travel to Germany
- Support knowledge transfer after program completion
