Faber-Castell India is inviting students, beginners, hobbyists and professional artists to participate in the Colour4Life Art Competition 2026. Participants must create original artwork based on the theme “Unique” using predominantly Faber-Castell products.

The global winner will receive a trip to Germany for two worth approximately ₹9 lakh, while Indian winners can receive Faber-Castell products from an India prize pool worth approximately ₹1.5 lakh.

Theme: Unique

Participants must use art to express the beauty of something truly unique to them. The artwork may present something special, meaningful or beautiful from the artist’s own experience, imagination or perspective.

Entries will be judged on:

  • Storytelling and emotional impact
  • Originality, imagination and creative expression
  • Artistic skill and technique
  • Relevance to the “Unique” theme

Who Can Participate?

The India competition is open to:

  • School and college students
  • Beginners and hobby artists
  • Professional artists
  • Indian residents of any age

Participants below 18 may enter only with the approval of a parent or guardian. The parent or guardian must provide consent through the online entry form.

No professional art qualification is required.

Artwork Requirements

Participants must:

  • Create artwork based on the theme “Unique—Express the beauty of something truly unique to you.”
  • Use predominantly Faber-Castell products.
  • Take a clear photograph showing the finished artwork and the Faber-Castell products used.
  • Submit the photograph through the official online entry form.
  • Provide complete and accurate personal details.
  • Keep the original artwork because it may be required for display, promotion or prize verification.

Multiple entries are allowed, but every entry must be submitted separately and contain a substantially different artwork and photograph.

Prizes for Indian Participants

Global Major Prize

One winner from participating Asia-Pacific countries will receive a trip to Germany for the winner and one guest. The prize includes:

  • Return economy flights to Germany
  • Airport-to-accommodation transfers
  • Five nights of four-star twin-share accommodation
  • Guided visit to the Faber-Castell Castle and headquarters in Stein
  • Up to €500 towards food, transport and additional expenses
  • Colour4Life Trophy
  • Faber-Castell Art & Graphic Woodcase Set
  • Dedicated social-media spotlight

Approximate prize value: ₹9 lakh

The India Gold winner will represent India in the global Major Prize judging. Winning the India Gold Prize does not guarantee the Germany trip.

India Prizes

  • India Gold Prize: Faber-Castell products worth ₹50,000
  • India Silver Prize: Faber-Castell products worth ₹35,000
  • India Bronze Prize: Faber-Castell products worth ₹20,000
  • Weekly Prize: Faber-Castell products worth ₹5,000 for one winner each week

Approximately eight or nine weekly winners are expected. The announced India prize pool is ₹1.5 lakh, excluding the global Major Prize. Read the India-specific terms.

Selection Process

The competition has three stages:

  1. Weekly judging: One winner will be selected from valid entries received during each competition week.
  2. India judging: The judges will select Gold, Silver and Bronze winners from the weekly winners.
  3. Global judging: The India Gold winner will compete against finalists from other participating Asia-Pacific countries for the Major Prize.

Winners are selected on artistic merit. This is a skill-based competition, and chance plays no part in determining the results.

Winners will be contacted in writing within seven days of the relevant judging.

How to Enter?

  1. Create original artwork based on the “Unique” theme.
  2. Use predominantly Faber-Castell products.
  3. Take a photograph of the artwork along with the products used.
  4. Visit the official Colour4Life competition website.
  5. Complete the online entry form.
  6. Upload the artwork photograph and submit the entry by October 31.
  7. If below 18, ask a parent or guardian to provide consent on the form.

Is Instagram Posting Mandatory?

No. Posting the artwork on Instagram is optional.

Participants who choose to share their entry may tag @Colour4Lifecompetition and @fabercastell_india. Their Instagram account must be public if they want the organisers to see and potentially reshare the post.

The official online form must still be completed even if the artwork is posted on Instagram.

Important Rules

  • Entry is free.
  • Entries made by another person on behalf of the participant may be invalid.
  • Participants must own the copyright or have all required rights to submitted material.
  • Consent must be obtained from identifiable people or owners of property appearing in an entry.
  • Offensive, unlawful, defamatory or rights-infringing entries will be disqualified.
  • By entering, participants give the organiser broad, worldwide and royalty-free rights to use, reproduce, adapt and publish the submitted material for promotional and other purposes.
  • Prizes generally cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash.
  • Under-18 winners must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the Germany trip.
  • The winner and guest must have valid passports and obtain the required visas and travel documents.
  • Visa costs, insurance, passports, meals and personal expenses are not covered unless expressly included in the prize.
  • The Germany trip must be taken within 12 months of winner notification.
