About CARA
The Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) functions under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. It regulates and monitors the legal adoption process in India.
About the Contest
CARA and MyGov are organising the “No Shortcuts to Parenthood—Myth vs Reality” Infographic Contest as part of Adoption Awareness Month 2026.
Participants must design clear and engaging infographics that correct common misconceptions about adoption and present accurate legal information under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
The competition seeks to make adoption-related information easier to understand and promote informed, transparent and responsible adoption practices.

Eligibility Criteria
The contest is open to all Indian citizens residing in India.
The official terms do not specify an age limit, educational qualification or professional-experience requirement.
Theme
Entries should follow the broader theme of “No Shortcuts to Parenthood—Only Legal Adoption.”
Participants may address common misconceptions about:
- Direct or informal adoption.
- The prescribed legal adoption process.
- The purpose and principles of adoption.
- Child rights and safeguards.
- The role of transparency and legal compliance.
- Money, influence or middlemen in adoption.
- Responsible and child-centred adoption practices.
Legal claims included in the infographic should be verified through official government sources.
Submission Guidelines
- Entries may be submitted in JPG, PNG or PDF format.
- The maximum permitted file size is 2 MB.
- The infographic may be created in Hindi or English.
- It must be original artwork created solely by the participant.
- AI-generated images are not permitted.
- Plagiarised entries will be disqualified and may result in legal action.
- Political, promotional, provocative, offensive or inappropriate content is prohibited.
- The uploaded infographic must have clearly readable text and graphics.
- Participants must not use copyrighted images, illustrations, fonts or other third-party material without permission.
- MyGov profile information must be complete and accurate.
Entry Limit: Important Clarification
The published terms state that each participant may submit a minimum of one and a maximum of three “mascot designs.”
Since this is an infographic contest, the reference to mascot designs appears inconsistent with the competition category. Participants should not automatically assume that three infographic entries are permitted. They should check the live submission form or obtain clarification from the organisers before submitting more than one entry.

Evaluation Criteria
Entries will be judged on:
- Originality
- Creativity

- Alignment with the Adoption Awareness Month 2026 theme
The decision of the CARA Selection Committee will be final and binding.
Prizes and Recognition
The top 10 participants will receive:
- A cash prize of ₹2,000 each.
- A digital certificate.
- Acknowledgement on CARA’s social media handles and other official communication platforms, wherever applicable.
The total announced cash-prize value is ₹20,000. Rewards and digital certificates will be distributed after the winner-announcement blog is published on MyGov.
Editable Source Files
Shortlisted participants may be asked to submit editable source files for final evaluation and subsequent use.
Accepted source-file examples mentioned in the terms include:
- AI
- PSD
- SVG
- CDR
Participants should therefore preserve the original editable file and all design elements used to create the infographic.
Copyright and Usage Rights
Winning entries will become the property of CARA.
CARA may use submitted infographics, including winning designs, for publishing, promotion, branding and other relevant purposes across different platforms and formats.
Participants must ensure that their entries do not violate another person’s copyright or intellectual-property rights.
