About the United Nations in India

The United Nations in India works with the Government of India, civil society and other partners on development priorities connected with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The contest is being led by the United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan as part of the “Show Us Your India” photography initiative.

About the Contest

The “Show Us Your India” Photo Contest invites participants to visually document the effects of climate change in India.

Photographs may show how changing weather patterns, rising temperatures or other climate-related conditions affect communities, livelihoods, natural landscapes and everyday experiences.

The contest supports awareness of Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action and comes ahead of COP31 in Türkiye.

Theme

The theme of the competition is: Climate: What does climate change look like where you live?

Entries should capture the visible impact of climate change on:

  • People and communities
  • Nature and ecosystems
  • Livelihoods
  • Cities and villages
  • Agriculture and water
  • Weather-related events
  • Everyday life in India

Participants should submit photographs that document a genuine climate-related subject rather than a general landscape without a clear connection to the theme.

Eligibility Criteria

The competition is open to participants of all ages and skill levels.

Both photographs taken using mobile phones and professional cameras are eligible.

The announcement does not specify nationality or residency restrictions. However, submitted photographs must depict climate change and its effects in India.

Submission Guidelines

  • Each participant may submit up to three photographs.
  • Photographs must be original and taken by the participant.
  • Only previously unpublished photographs are eligible.
  • Entries must have a meaningful connection with climate change in India.
  • Participants should submit clear, good-quality photographs.
  • Each entry must include the date and place where the photograph was taken.
  • The participant’s name must be included.
  • A description or caption explaining the photograph must accompany the entry.
  • Entries must be submitted by email.

The official announcement does not specify a required image format, file-size limit, editing policy or naming convention. Participants should use a commonly accepted format such as JPG and avoid sending unnecessarily large email attachments.
