About the UNESCO Creative Services Roster

The roster will support the communication work of UNESCO’s Regional Office for South Asia. Rostered professionals may be contacted for photography or videography assignments involving:

• Events, meetings and conferences
• Workshops and field missions
• Documentary-style photography and filming
• Interviews with participants or project beneficiaries
• Photo and video editing
• Social media-ready videos and image selections

Candidates may apply as photographers, videographers or both. However, they will normally be assigned one role at a time for a particular project.

Important: Inclusion in the roster does not guarantee any assignment, minimum workload or income. Candidates will be contacted according to UNESCO’s project requirements.

Who Can Apply?

The call is open to:

• Individual photographers and videographers of any nationality
• Registered agencies and firms
• External candidates based in South Asia

Individual applicants must be based in India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal or Bangladesh and must be available to provide in-person services.

Agencies must be capable of deploying suitable personnel to the country where an assignment takes place.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have:

• A university degree and/or professional training in photography, videography, film, photojournalism, communication or a related field.
• At least three years of professional photography or videography experience.
• Experience covering events and undertaking field documentation.
• Strong visual storytelling, composition and lighting skills.
• Proficiency in relevant software such as Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.
• Ability to produce social media-ready photographs and short videos.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.

Experience with development organisations or international institutions is desirable. Knowledge of local languages, UN branding, drones, 360-degree cameras or GoPro equipment will be an advantage.

Regional Availability

Applicants must state where they are based and where they can undertake in-person assignments.

Candidates based in India should select the applicable region:

• Region 1: Delhi/NCR
• Region 2: North India, excluding Delhi
• Region 3: South India
• Region 4: East India
• Region 5: Maharashtra and Gujarat
• Region 6: North-East India

Applicants outside India must mention their country of residence and the South Asian countries where they are available to work.

Rate Proposal

Applicants must quote daily professional rates in their local currency for the services relevant to them:

• Photography assignments in their home country
• Photography assignments requiring international travel
• Videography assignments in their home country
• Videography assignments requiring international travel
• Remote video post-production and editing

Travel-related expenses for work outside the applicant’s country should be proposed separately unless UNESCO requests otherwise.

No fixed salary or guaranteed payment has been announced because this is an on-call consultant roster.

Applicants must prepare:

• Completed UNESCO Employment History Form
• Cover letter
• CV
• Portfolio with at least three recent work samples
• Brief description of each sample and the applicant’s role
• Standard daily service-rate proposal
• Organisational profile, for agencies
• CVs of at least two proposed personnel, for agencies

Portfolio samples must be from the last three years. Online portfolio links should be included where possible.

The cover letter must mention:

Selection Process

Applications will be evaluated using a 70:30 technical-to-financial ratio:

• Professional experience: 30 marks
• Portfolio: 25 marks
• Language and application quality: 15 marks
• Proposed professional rates: 30 marks

The process may also include a test, assessment or competency-based interview. Final candidates may undergo reference checks.

• Being added to the roster does not guarantee an assignment.
• All submitted work must be original.
• AI-generated photographs and videos are prohibited unless UNESCO expressly authorises their use.
• Copyright and intellectual-property rights in work produced under an assignment will belong to UNESCO.
• Selected consultants must provide final files as well as editable or source files.
• UNESCO material cannot be reused or published without written permission.
• Informed consent must be obtained from people appearing in the content, including appropriate consent for minors.
• UNESCO does not charge any fee at any stage of recruitment.
