The Ink & Quill Collective is inviting original fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction and English-translated oral stories for publication in QuillMark Issue 4. Submissions must be made online by October 5, 2026.

About QuillMark

QuillMark is a literary magazine published by the Ink & Quill Collective. It features diverse voices across fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, translations and oral storytelling.

For Issue 4, the magazine is accepting original submissions under four categories: Fiction, Creative Non-Fiction, Poetry and Oral Stories translated into English.

Submission Categories

Fiction

Original short stories from any genre are accepted.
Word limit: 3,000–5,000 words.
Submit the work as a Word document.
Use Times New Roman, font size 12, justified alignment and double-line spacing.

Creative Non-Fiction

Accepted forms include:

Personal essays
Memoirs
Nature writing
Travel writing
Ideas-based essays
Literary journalism

The word limit is 3,000–5,000 words. Submissions must be Word documents formatted in Times New Roman, font size 12, with justified alignment and double-line spacing.

Poetry

Original poems across different styles and forms, including intimate and experimental poetry, are accepted.

Maximum length: 50 lines.
Writers may submit one poem or up to three poems in one document.
The combined submission must remain within the 50-line limit.
Submit the poems in a Word document.
Use Times New Roman, font size 12.
When submitting multiple poems, name the document after the first poem.

Oral Stories

Oral Stories may include narratives passed down through families and communities, bedtime stories, cultural traditions and stories preserved through songs or conversations.

Oral stories translated into English are accepted.
Submissions may be written in prose or verse.
Word limit: 1,000–5,000 words.
Submit the work as a Word document.
Use Times New Roman, font size 12, justified alignment and double-line spacing.

Eligibility Criteria

The call is open to writers submitting original work under the available categories.

No specific age, nationality or geographical eligibility restriction has been mentioned in the submission guidelines.

Benefits

Selected works will be published in QuillMark Issue 4.

Every applicant will receive a decision letter accompanied by constructive feedback on the submitted work, irrespective of whether it is accepted or rejected.

No payment or publication fee has been mentioned in the available announcement.

How to Submit?

Interested writers can submit their work through this online form.

Writers may apply under multiple categories. However, a separate form must be submitted for each category.

Submission Deadline

The last date to submit an entry is October 5, 2026.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions must be written in UK English.
The submitted work must be original and must not be plagiarised or generated using AI.
The work must not have been successfully published elsewhere at the time of submission.
Pieces previously longlisted for earlier issues of QuillMark will not be accepted.
The submission document must not contain the writer’s or poet’s name.
Documents containing the author’s name will not be considered.
The document must be named only after the title of the submitted piece.
For multiple poems, use the title of the first poem as the document’s filename.
Every submission must include a 150-word summary explaining the inspiration behind the work.
The summary may also mention craft-related details, such as the point of view used.
Submissions must strictly follow the prescribed category format.
Racist, toxic, sexist or inflammatory content intended to hurt an individual or section of society will not be accepted.
Applicants submitting under multiple categories must complete separate forms.
If the work is accepted by another publication during QuillMark’s review process, the applicant must inform the organisers.
Once a piece is published in QuillMark, it cannot be withdrawn until one year after its publication date.
