D.E.S.I.G.N for BioE3 Challenge 2026 for [School Students, Monthly Winners, Certificates]: Apply by April 20

The D.E.S.I.G.N. for BioE3 Challenge invites school students across India to submit innovative biotechnology-based solutions addressing real-world challenges. The challenge is launched under the BioE3 Policy framework to empower youth to create sustainable and scalable solutions.

Students from Classes VI–XII can participate by submitting short videos (60–120 seconds) showcasing innovative ideas aligned with national priorities.

About D.E.S.I.G.N for BioE3 Challenge

The D.E.S.I.G.N for BioE3 Challenge is an initiative under the BioE3 (Biotechnology for Economy, Environment & Employment) policy launched by the Department of Biotechnology in collaboration with MyGov. The policy was approved by the Union Cabinet under the leadership of Narendra Modi on 24 August 2024 to accelerate biomanufacturing and sustainable innovation in India.

The challenge theme is: “Empowering Youth to Solve Critical Issues of their TIMES”

Participants must propose biotechnology-based solutions addressing real-world issues such as:

  • Climate change
  • Sustainable agriculture
  • Healthcare innovation
  • Bio-based products
  • Carbon capture
  • Marine & space biotechnology

Application Deadline

Submission Window:
1 April – 20 April 2026 (Current Cycle)

Applications open 1st to 20th of every month until October 2026

Who Can Apply

Students must:

  • Be enrolled in Classes VI–XII
  • Form a team (max 5 students)
  • Belong to the same school
  • Submit original video entries
  • Upload videos via YouTube link

Challenge Framework (D.E.S.I.G.N Model)

Participants must follow the D.E.S.I.G.N innovation framework:

D — Define real needs
Identify real problems in economy, environment, or employment.

E — Evidence first
Use research, user insights, and ground realities.

S — Sustainability by design
Focus on eco-friendly and zero-waste solutions.

I — Integration
Combine biotechnology, digital tools, engineering, and policy.

G — Go-to-Market
Explain adoption and scalability.

N — Net-positive impact
Highlight employment, inclusivity, and sustainability benefits.

Recognition & Benefits

Selected participants will receive:

  • Certificates of Merit (Top 10 teams)
  • Digital certificates for all team members
  • Certificates of appreciation (20–30 participants)
  • Showcase on official platforms
  • Feature in annual reports
  • Access to incubation support (selected teams)

Video Submission Guidelines

Participants must:

  • Record video (60–120 seconds)
  • Use horizontal format (landscape)
  • Introduce team and idea
  • Use clean background
  • Upload via YouTube
  • Submit original content only

Note: AI-generated visuals or narration are not allowed.

  5. Submit application
