12 Years of Make in India Essay Competition 2026 by DPIIT & MyGov [Selected Essays to be Featured]: Submit by Oct 5

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), in collaboration with MyGov, is inviting Indian citizens to participate in the 12 Years of Make in India Essay Competition 2026. Participants must submit an original 500–600-word essay in Hindi or English by October 5, 2026.

About DPIIT

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) functions under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. It formulates and implements measures supporting industrial development, investment, startups, internal trade and ease of doing business in India.

About MyGov

MyGov is the Government of India’s citizen-engagement platform. It enables citizens to participate in government initiatives through competitions, quizzes, discussions, surveys and other public activities.

About the Competition

The competition marks 12 years of the Make in India initiative and invites citizens to reflect on India’s manufacturing transformation, growing enterprise ecosystem and engagement with international markets.

Participants may discuss India’s achievements, challenges and future possibilities as the country advances from “Made in India” to “Made for the World.”


Competition Theme

The prescribed theme is:

“12 Years of Make in India: From Made in India to Made for the World”

Every submission must directly address this theme.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The competition is open to all citizens of India.
  • No age limit or educational qualification has been specified.
  • Participants must register or log in to MyGov.
  • The participant’s MyGov profile details must be complete.
  • Multiple or double participation may result in rejection.

Suggested Areas for the Essay

Participants may write about one or more of the following:

  • India’s manufacturing journey during the past 12 years
  • Indian products, enterprises and innovation
  • Manufacturing and entrepreneurship
  • Technology’s role in India’s growth
  • Skills and talent
  • Contribution of MSMEs and emerging businesses
  • India’s growing presence in global markets
  • Opportunities and challenges facing Indian manufacturing
  • The future of Make in India
  • Taking Indian products and enterprises to the world

These areas are only indicative. Participants may develop their own interpretation while remaining relevant to the main theme.

Submission Guidelines

  • The essay must contain 500–600 words.
  • It may be written in Hindi or English.
  • It must be original, unpublished and created by the participant.
  • It must not infringe any third party’s copyright, trademark or intellectual-property rights.
  • Plagiarised or misleading entries will be rejected.
  • The submission must not contain provocative, offensive, objectionable, defamatory, discriminatory, inappropriate or unlawful material.
  • Incomplete entries or submissions that do not follow the prescribed specifications may not be considered.
  • Entries must be submitted through the MyGov portal within the competition period.

Recognition

There is no cash prize or monetary gratification for this competition.

Selected essays may be featured on the official websites, digital platforms or social-media handles of:

Publication is subject to applicable permissions and MyGov’s terms.

Important Intellectual-Property Condition

According to the official terms, a selected essay will become the exclusive intellectual property of DPIIT.

Participants should understand this condition before entering because it is broader than merely granting permission to feature the essay. Creators whose essays are selected may no longer hold exclusive control over those works.

Selection

Eligible entries may be reviewed by a Screening Committee. Its decision will be final and cannot be challenged.

Proof that an entry was submitted does not necessarily constitute proof that it was successfully received. Participants should complete the process carefully and retain any available submission confirmation.

How to Participate?

  1. Visit the official competition page on MyGov.
  2. Register or log in to your MyGov account.
  3. Complete your profile information.
  4. Prepare an original essay of 500–600 words in Hindi or English.
  5. Submit the essay through the MyGov portal before the deadline.
  6. Check that the submission has been completed successfully.

Important Dates

  • Competition opens: September 25, 2026, at 12:00 PM IST
  • Submission deadline: October 5, 2026, at 11:45 PM IST

Late entries will not be considered.
