The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (YAS) has opened applications for its Internship Opportunity – January Cycle 2026 under the newly launched Comprehensive Internship Policy. This programme offers college and university students a rare chance to gain hands-on experience in sports governance, administration and allied professional fields at the national level.

About the YAS Ministry Internship Programme
The Comprehensive Internship Policy of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports aims to create a large, structured talent pipeline for India’s growing sports sector. Through this initiative, students are placed within the Ministry and its autonomous bodies to learn how sports policies are designed, implemented, and managed.
Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has highlighted that the programme opens the doors of sports governance to young people, enabling them to make a meaningful contribution to nation-building through sports.

Organisations Where Interns Will Be Placed
Selected interns may be placed across the Ministry and its key institutions, including:
- Sports Authority of India (SAI)
- Department of Sports (MYAS)
- National Anti Doping Agency (NADA)
These organisations play a critical role in athlete development, clean sport, and international sports performance.
Domains and Work Exposure
The internship covers 20+ functional domains, making it suitable for students from diverse academic backgrounds. Interns may work in areas such as sports management, sports science, event operations, media and communications, legal affairs, IT systems, international sports governance, and anti-doping.
Students placed with NADA will assist in anti-doping awareness, compliance, and case management, while those at NDTL will gain exposure to laboratory testing, research, and scientific processes supporting clean sport.
Learning Experience for Interns
Interns will receive structured onboarding, mentorship from domain experts, and real-time exposure to policy and programme implementation. They may contribute to flagship initiatives such as Khelo India, Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), and Target Asian Games Group (TAGG).
Opportunities may also include work at SAI Stadia, Regional Centres, and National Centres of Excellence, offering a practical understanding of India’s sports infrastructure.
