Applications are open for the Certificate Course in Natural Heritage Management (CCNHM) 2026 offered by the Wildlife Institute of India through the WII Category 2 Centre for World Natural Heritage Management and Training under the auspices of UNESCO.
This 4-week fully funded international training program will be held from 27 April to 22 May 2026 in Dehradun, India. The course is open to international professionals from Asia, Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe, Caribbean, Pacific, and Small Island countries, making it an excellent global capacity-building opportunity in natural heritage conservation.
About the Course
The Certificate Course in Natural Heritage Management (CCNHM) is designed to strengthen the capacity of professionals responsible for conservation and management of natural heritage sites. The program combines classroom sessions, workshops, case studies, and field-based learning.
The training also includes a five-day field tour to natural heritage sites, allowing participants to apply their learning in real-world settings. The course focuses on wildlife conservation, biodiversity management, and interdisciplinary heritage approaches aligned with the World Heritage Convention.
Funding Support
The program is fully sponsored under the MEA‑ITEC Programme. Selected participants will receive international airfare, accommodation, a daily living allowance, training materials, and field tour expenses.
Who Can Apply
The course is open to international participants from Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America, Caribbean, Pacific and Small Island countries. It is designed primarily for professionals working in environment, forest, wildlife, tourism, and heritage-related sectors.
Eligible applicants may include government officials, researchers, site managers, and conservation practitioners working in protected areas, national parks, wildlife sanctuaries, natural heritage sites, or conservation institutions.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should hold at least a graduate degree, with postgraduate qualifications preferred. A minimum of two years of professional experience is desirable. Candidates must be below 45 years of age, possess good English communication skills, and be physically fit for field tours.
Eligible candidates must also be nominated and approved by their government, department, or sponsoring agency.
Course Structure
The four-week course is divided into three academic modules followed by a field tour. These modules focus on heritage concepts and conventions, heritage management, and heritage interpretation. The program concludes with a field visit to heritage sites in India.
