Participants in the India Post Dhai Akhar National Letter Writing Competition 2026–27 must send their handwritten letter to the Chief Postmaster General of their respective Postal Circle.
This does not always mean the address located in the participant’s own state. Some Postal Circles cover more than one state or Union Territory. For example, Goa comes under Maharashtra Circle, Chandigarh under Punjab Circle and Sikkim under West Bengal Circle.
The competition theme is “A Letter to Mother Earth: My Promise to Protect Nature.” Letters must be posted by October 31, 2026.
Check the official Dhai Akhar SOP on the India Post website.
How to Address the Dhai Akhar Letter?
Write the postal address in this format:
The Chief Postmaster General
[Name of Your Postal Circle]
[Circle Office Address and PIN Code]
Also write the following clearly on the Envelope or Inland Letter Card:
“DHAI AKHAR Letter 2026”

Postal Circle Mapping for States and UTs
These combined Circles are particularly easy to misunderstand:
- Goa: Maharashtra Circle
- Chandigarh: Punjab Circle
- Puducherry: Tamil Nadu Circle
- Lakshadweep: Kerala Circle
- Sikkim: West Bengal Circle
- Andaman and Nicobar Islands: West Bengal Circle
- Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu: Gujarat Circle
- Arunachal Pradesh: North East Circle
- Manipur: North East Circle
- Meghalaya: North East Circle
- Mizoram: North East Circle
- Nagaland: North East Circle
- Tripura: North East Circle
- Ladakh: Jammu and Kashmir Circle
Assam has its own separate Postal Circle and should not be confused with the North East Circle.
Example: Address for a Participant from Goa
A participant living in Goa should write:
The Chief Postmaster General
Maharashtra Circle
Mumbai GPO Building, 2nd Floor
Mumbai – 400001
They should not address the letter to a separate Goa Circle because India Post places Goa under Maharashtra Circle.
Example: Address for a Participant from Meghalaya
A participant from Meghalaya should write:
The Chief Postmaster General
North East Circle
Shillong – 793001
Before Posting the Letter
Check that:
- The letter is handwritten.
- The correct age category and format have been selected.
- An Envelope entry does not exceed 1,000 words.
- An Inland Letter Card entry does not exceed 500 words.
- The required age declaration is included.
- The correct Postal Circle address is written.
- “DHAI AKHAR Letter 2026” is written on the cover or Inland Letter Card.
- The prescribed postage has been affixed.
- The letter is posted by October 31, 2026.
Participants should retain a photograph of the completed letter and postal receipt, where available.
Important Address Clarification
The addresses above have been compiled from the Department of Posts’ official Circle structure, CPMG contact directory and grievance-address list.
However, an individual Postal Circle may issue a competition notice naming a specific officer, section, letter box or slightly expanded delivery address. Before posting, participants should show the address to their nearest Post Office and ask:
“Is this the correct Chief Postmaster General address for the Dhai Akhar Letter Writing Competition 2026–27?”
If a current Circle-level Dhai Akhar notice provides a different dedicated submission address, follow that specific notice.
Deadline
