ELIGIBILITY OF APPLICANTS:
Non-Federal public and private non-profit universities, colleges, and research institutes that offer approved graduate-level degree-granting programmes in NOAA-related sciences are eligible to apply.
DESCRIPTION:
The NOAA Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR) is accepting applications for the establishment of a Cooperative Institute (CI) to help NOAA achieve its vision of "Healthy ecosystems, communities, and economies that are resilient in the face of change" in its Next Generation Strategic Plan. To improve our understanding of the entire earth system, the CI's research will draw on its experience in climate processing and modelling, atmospheric processes, geophysics, advanced information systems, earth system modelling, and space weather. By creating and applying satellite systems, ships, buoys, aeroplanes, research facilities, high-performance computation, and information management and distribution systems, the proposed CI supports NOAA mission science. Furthermore, the planned CI will collaborate with NOAA to develop cutting-edge research-to-application skills that recognise and apply substantial new knowledge.
